Mustapha M. Mustapha,

Lead Bioinformatics Scientist
Dr. Mustapha started his career in public health as a physician in Nigeria before completing his Master of Public Health and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Epidemiology from the University of Pittsburgh. His postdoctoral training in microbial genomic epidemiology focused on developing bioinformatics systems for the efficient detection of infectious disease clusters and outbreaks. His research has been published in more than 40 peer-reviewed manuscripts, many of which have featured his EpiCenter colleagues as co-authors.
Alexander Sundermann,
DrPH CIC FAPIC
Lead Epidemiologist
Dr. Sundermann holds Doctor of Public Health and Master of Public Health degrees in Infectious Diseases and Microbiology from the University of Pittsburgh. He has more than seven years of experience in hospital infection prevention and control with emphasis on applying advanced genomic surveillance and machine learning for early detection of disease outbreaks. He is board certified in infection control and has substantial experience as a public health consultant. In 2021, he was inducted as a Fellow of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology. His cross-disciplinary research has been published in prestigious journals such as Clinical Infectious Diseases, MBio, eLife, and Infection Control & Hospital Epidemiology.
